Jurate Petruskeviciene graduated from the Lithuanian State Institute of Art in 1973. She is an associate professor in the Vilnius Academy of Arts. She has held 26 solo exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad. Her awards and distinctions include: diploma at the International Exhibition – Competition “Speech is silver…” in Château-Chinon, France in 1994; prize at the International Patchwork-Embroidery Exhibition-Competition “Feuerwerk – 2000” in Düsseldorf, Germany; the National Individual Grant of Lithuania in 2004, 2005 and 2009; the International Exhibition-Competition for Silk Painters “The Golden Paintbrush” in Lier, Belgium – nomination for the prize in 2006; the 7th International Artistic Linen Cloth Biennial in Krosno, Poland – distinction in 2012; the 7th International Biennial of Painting and Unique Textile in Gdynia, Poland – the SPAW ERA Art Prize in 2013; and the Kaunas Artists Exhibition in the Kaunas Public Library in Lithuania in 2015.
