INTERNATIONAL ARTISTIC LINEN CLOTH BIENNIAL

Prizes

The main prize of the International Artistic Linen Cloth Biennial is Grand Prix – the “Prządka” statuette. Besides, there are three more prizes awarded in the competition and they are also statuettes. All of them are designed by Ewa Cisowska – visual artist from Krosno who created the logo of  International Artistic Linen Cloth Biennial as well. From the very first edition the statuettes are made by artist and sculptor Maciej Syrek  from Krosno. A participant of the competition can also be awarded a distinction in the form of small statuette of a loom which refers to Krosno’s weaving tradition. All of the prizes are merit awards and no prize money is given in this competition.  Awarded works are chosen from among the nominated works.

From 2008 the DEBUTIES competition is also organised within the scope of International Artistic Linen Cloth Biennial. Only fourth-year students and fifth-year students of the Polish academies of Fine Arts, and graduates of those academies can participate in the DEBUTIES competition. The winner is awarded a statuette and the Museum of Crafts in Krosno Award, that is ability to organise the exhibition of the winner’s artworks in the Piwnica PodCieniami gallery in Krosno.

Additionally, from 2004 the AKAPI Foundation Award is given by the AKAPI Foundation within the scope of the Biennial in memoriam Anna Kobak-Pisowacka, who died tragically in 2003. She was one of the initiators of the Biennial. The AKAPI Award is given to those artists whose artworks refer to the Anna’s oeuvre.
