Maria Jełowicka has worked with artistic textile since 1974. Since 1998 she has worked with artistic textiles, using her own technique of warping which enables to create three-dimensional textile. Since 2001 she has been a member of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers in Warsaw district. Maria has held 31 solo exhibitions and has participated in numerous, including: the International Triennial of Tapestry in the Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź, Poland in 2001 and 2013; the Fiber Art Festival exhibitions at the “Warsztat Twórczy – Kowary” International Symposium in Kowary, Poland from 2004-2015. Her awards include: Distinction at the “Z krosna do Krosna” 3rd International Artistic Linen Cloth Biennial in the Museum of Crafts in Krosno in 2004; 3rd Prize at the “Warsztat Twórczy – Kowary” International Symposium in Kowary in 2006 and 2008, and distinction at the Symposium in 2011; 1st Prize from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in 2009 at the Experimental Studio Exhibition in Warsaw; 3rd Prize at the “MUSE Art Contest 2015 – Magdalena Abakanowicz” in Warsaw in 2015.
