Biography:
Magdalena Sołtysik is a visual artist, instructor of the Polish Origami Society and a teacher. She is a graduate of the State High School of Fine Arts in Poznań and the Academy of Humanities and Economics in Łódź (art therapy). He works with art in many aspects: she paints oil paintings on canvas, draws, sketches, felts, folds and shapes the paper – intrigued by the arrangement of shades, forms, light and colours. The artist combines various media on one canvas, such as: oil paint, felted wool, string and various – sometimes dumpy – finds. She also deals with weaving with the use of coloured wool. She combines traditional weaving techniques with modern materials (e.g. aluminium wire). Magdalena Sołtysik’s passion is paper and the Japanese art of paper folding. What she values most in art is the possibility of combining techniques and an artistic joke understood as “debunking art”. Since 2010, she has been taking part in the “Z krosna do Krosna” International Artistic Linen Cloth Biennial.
