Biography:
Aleksandra Parol was born in 1983 in Warsaw. She had developed the ability to play the piano for many years. Graduating from the undergraduate studies at the Institute of Musicology of the University of Warsaw in 2005 became a life turning point separating her passion for music from the passion for creating the textile art. Fascinated by historical embroidery, she learned about the techniques and old embroidery motives. She was involved in making copies and reconstruction of preserved historical records, which were then presented during historical shows (including: Archaeological Festival in Biskupin, Targ Solny in Kołobrzeg, historical festivals in Spain: Setman Medieval de Sant Jordi, Setman Medieval de Montblanc, Mercado Medieval – Jaca, Huesca). In 2012 Aleksandra Parol started cooperation with The Polish Studios for Conservation of Cultural Property in Warsaw, where under the direction of Mariola Ratajczyk in the Textile Conservation Studio, she gained experience in the field of preservation methods, techniques and renovation of historical objects (including: vestments and liturgical textile, wall and furniture tapestries, robe belts, metal lace). In 2017, she completed a Two-Year Course in Arts and Crafts in Wola Sękowa, obtaining the Diploma of Weaving and the Diploma of Embroidery with excellent grades and the title Journeyman in two professions: Weaver and Embroiderer. In addition, she completed certified courses: “Traditional Weaving Techniques” conducted by the folk artist Anna Bałdyga and “Textile Art” under the supervision of prof. Jagoda Krajewska from the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź as part of the Łucznica Academy Association (2017/2018). Since 2014, she has been conducting workshops and courses in embroidery and weaving at the “Sztukarnia” Art Centre in Warsaw. Aleksandra Parol is currently working under the direction of Mariola Ratajczyk for ReKonArt conservation studio. She develops her original weaving work in her own weaving studio located in Warsaw's Wola district. She participated in the 3rd Textile Art Biennial in Poznań (2021). From 2022, she has belonged to the Textile Section of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers.
