Z krosna do Krosna
INTERNATIONAL ARTISTIC LINEN CLOTH BIENNIAL

The jubilee edition of the Biennial starts up

The Museum of Crafts in Krosno announces the beginning of “Z krosna do Krosna” 2018 International Artistic Linen Cloth Biennial. It is going to be a 10th – a jubilee edition. The first edition of the biennial took place in 2000 and aroused great interest among artists worldwide, like: Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Iceland, Israel, Japan, Canada, Costa Rica, Lithuania, Latvia, Germany, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Scotland, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, the USA, Hungary and Italy. The competition is addressed to the professionals and it is ended with the final exhibition, originally presented in Krosno. This year, the opening is scheduled for the August. t is going to be combined with the awarding of the winners of the Biennial.

The main tenet of the rules of procedure is focused on the creative matter – all works should contain at least 75% of linen in any of occurring forms (fiber, yarn, fabric). The second important criterion are dimensions (closing a work between 25 – 60 cm). Professor Ewa Maria Poradowska-Werszler - the artistic adviser of our Biennial - describes linen works as a "chamber cloth". Such expression reflects the specificity of the works submitted in each edition. These works, having medium dimensions, bring high aesthetic value, making them closer to the human living space. From the works, the nature of linen and its undeniable beauty emanate.

An important advantage of the "Z krosna do Krosna" bienniale is giving the possibility of an individual exhibition debut for young artists. The goal of the DEBUTS Competition, accompanying the main competition from several editions, is to organize for the winner an individual exhibition of works - representing all the fields of art he / she carries out - and to promote these works. DEBUTS competition is addressed to the students of the last year of first and second cycle studies at Polish art academies as well as to graduates (one year after graduating from university). In the DEBUTS competition you can only take part once. No fee for participation will be charged.

The Museum of Crafts in Krosno encourages  artists to take part in the biennial.
