Biography:
Ewa Maria Poradowska-Werszler graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, Poland in 1967. She is a full professor in the Pedagogical and Artistic Department of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland. She is an honourable citizen of Kowary, Poland. In 1974 she was an initiator of the “10 x TAK” Weaving Group in Wrocław, Poland and since 1974 she has been a general curator of the International Festival of Artistic Textile. In 1978 she has founded the “Na Jatkach” Weaving Gallery in Wrocław which is still run by her. She was awarded: the Order of Polonia Restituta; the Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis; the Medal Silesia; the Medal Merito de Wratislavia; the Association of Polish Artists and Designers Gold Merit Badge; the Marshall of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Award in 2015 and many other decorations and diplomas. Her exhibitions in 2013: the ”Splendor tkaniny” exhibition in Zachęta Gallery in Warsaw; the “Das Kleine Format” exhibition in Ottenthal, Austria; the 12th Polish National Exhibition of Unique Textiles and the 10th Polish National Exhibition of Miniature Textile in the Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź. Exhibitions in 2014: the 11th International Exhibition of Textile Art in the Lower Silesia in the Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź; the Museum of Karkonosze Region in Jelenia Góra, Poland; the “Das Kleine Format” exhibition in the Galerie Süd in Magdeburg, Germany; the “Len w twórczych koncepcjach E&E” exhibition in the Polish Institute in Bratislava, Slovakia; the “Z krosna do Krosna” 8th International Artistic Linen Cloth Biennial in the Museum of Crafts in Krosno – exhibition premiere and travelling exhibitions (2014-2016); and the “Mosty Sztuki” exhibition at the Adam Mickiewicz University – Faculty of Pedagogy and Artistic Education in Kalisz (honorary member of the artistic committee). Exhibitions in 2015: the “Malarstwo materią, współczesna kreacja – prastara technika filcowania” exhibition, the Cepelia Foundation in Warsaw; the “Galeria Sztuki na Nankiera” in Wrocław; the “Minął wiek, sztuka włókna”exhibition in the Piast Dynasty Museum in Brzeg, Poland; the “Wszyscy jesteśmy wezwani do świętości” exhibition on the 10th anniversary of the death of Pope St. John Paul II in the “Na Jatkach” Weaving Gallery in Wrocław; the 41st “Tradycje tkackie w zwierciadle sztuki” International Exhibition of Artistic Textile in the Museum of Weaving in Kamienna Góra, Poland; the “Pamięć utrwalona. Dary i nabytki Centralnego Muzeum Włókiennictwa w Łodzi z lat 2003-2014” exhibition on the 55th anniversary of the foundation of Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź; the 13th Polish National Exhibition of the Unique Textiles; and the 11th Polish National Exhibition of Miniature Textile in the Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź. Ewa Maria has been a recipient of numerous awards and distinctions. Her works can be found in museum collections and in private collections in Poland and abroad.
