Biography:
Mahoko Motoda was born in 1958 in Japan. She graduated from Joshibi Junior College of Art and Design. Her solo exhibitions include the Gallery Maronie in Kyoto, Japan in 1996 and 1999; and the Wacoal Ginza Art Space in Tokyo, Japan in 1999. Mahoko has also participated in group exhibitions including the Toyamura International Sculpture Biennale in Hokkaido, Japan in 2005; the Triennial of Textile Art in Hungary in 2006, 2009, 2012, 2015 and 2018; the “Z krosna do Krosna” International Artistic Linen Cloth Biennial in the Museum of Crafts in Krosno, Poland in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016. Mahoko’s awards include: the Encouragement Prize at the 3rd Floss Silk Visual Art in Tokyo, Japan in 1998; and Prize for Excellence at the Sinsho Fine Art Exhibition in Tokyo, Japan in 2001; the “Z krosna do Krosna” 8th International Artistic Linen Cloth Biennial in the Museum of Crafts in Krosno, Poland – Prize in 2014.
